Trauma Counseling

Understanding Trauma Related To Narcissistic Abuse

Trauma is a deeply distressing experience. It can be caused by a single obvious event or through repeated emotional, psychological, spiritual, or physical abuse. Especially in relationships where manipulation, invalidation, control, or emotional neglect are present. Narcissistic abuse survivors suffer trauma through constant gaslighting, manipulation, chronic criticism, blame, dismissal, isolation, rape, incest, violence, childhood neglect, abandonment, constant fearfulness, loss of self-worth, and unpredictable emotional responses from others.

Over time, the nervous system remains stuck in the stress responses of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn and struggles to return to a calm state. Many adults impacted by narcissistic abuse experience trauma symptoms such as hypervigilance, emotional numbness, difficulty trusting their own perceptions, people-pleasing, and a persistent sense of shame and self-doubt, often leading to complex post-traumatic stress disorder. In trauma counseling, we focus on helping you process your trauma, understand that the danger has passed, even though the emotional impact remains, plus assist you with coping skills training. My approach is trauma-informed, secure, compassionate, empathic, and gentle. We do not rush the process; you are safe here.

Narcissistic abuse trauma is often invisible to others, but it is profoundly real. Trauma counseling offers a path toward grounding, clarity, and reclaiming your sense of self after prolonged emotional harm. If you’re unsure where to begin, a consultation is a supportive first step. During a consultation, we can briefly discuss what you’re experiencing, explore whether trauma counseling is a good fit, and discuss next steps for scheduling an appointment, without pressure or obligation. When you’re ready, you’re invited to schedule a consultation or book an appointment to begin your healing journey.
